Chapter 11
-Jem and Scout were walking past Mrs. Dubose's house when Mrs. Dubose said something bad about Atticus.
-Jem was mad, so he ripped out all of the flowers that Mrs. Dubose loved in her garden
-Atticus found out and gave Jem a punishment, and the punishment was to have Jem go read to Mrs. Dubose each day.
Chapter 12
-Summer has arrived, but Dill isn't coming due to his mother getting remarried.
-Atticus has to go away for two weeks to work in the state legislature.
-Calpurnia takes the kids to her black church where there is a collection for Tom Robinson's family.
-Calpurnia explains to the kids what Tom Robinson did.
Chapter 13
-Aunt Alexandra moves in with the Finch's to teach Scout how to be a girl.
-She also wants to teach Jem and Scout about the family history.
Chapter 14
-Aunt Alexandra doesn't want Calpurnia to work for the Finches, but Atticus had to convince Alexandra to let her stay.
- When Jem and Scout went to bed, they noticed Dill under the bed, so they asked Atticus if he could stay.
-Atticus let him stay.
Chapter 15
-Heck Tate came to tell Atticus that Tom Robinson was being moved to the Maycomb jail and warns him that there might be trouble.
-Atticus drives to town the next night, and Jem, Scout, and Dill follow him.
-They see him sitting there alone in front of the jail, then four cars pull up and men come out of them to surround Atticus.
-Scout, unsure, runs up to Atticus and sees Mr. Cunningham, and she tells him to say "Hi" to Walter for her.
-At that moment, all the men clear out of the square and went home.
Chapter 16
-Everybody is gathering around for the trial.
-Jem, Scout, and Dill aren't supposed to come, but they arrive late and sit in the black balcony.
Chapter 17
-Mr. Gilmer, the prosecutor, questions Heck Tate.
-Atticus cross-examines Bob Ewell and tricks him into writing his name, which reveals that Bob is left-handed.
-A left handed man is more likely to bruise the right side of someone's face, and Mayella has a bruise oh the right side of her face.
Chapter 18
-Mayella Ewell testifies by saying that she told Tom Robinson to come inside to fix up a dresser, and then he raped her.
-Atticus proves that Mayella is lonely.
-Atticus asked who raped her and she then said that it was Tom Robinson.
-Then Atticus has Tom stand up and shows her that his left is half as long as his right, so he couldn't have beaten and raped her.
-Atticus then asked if it was Bob Ewell who raped her, and there was no response.
Chapter 19
-Tom says his side of the story, and it is that she asked him to fix something, then when he got inside, she threw herself at him.
-Link Deas stands up and yells that Tom is a good man, which results in him getting expelled from the court house.
-Mr. Gilmer tricks Tom into saying that he felt sorry for her, which might lose the trial for him.
-Scout takes Dill outside of the courthouse because he doesn't feel well.
Chapter 20
-Mr. Dolphus Raymond gives Dill Coca-Cola to drink, and Dill feels better.
-Atticus is making his closing remarks.
-He says that in the courtroom, everyone is equal, and to have the jury make a decision on the evidence.
